Polytetrafluoroethylene is a very stable polymer compound, which will not react with 99% of chemicals. It can be said to be the cold Prince of the chemical industry. Except for the molten alkali metal, PTFE is hardly corroded by any chemical reagent. For example, when boiling in concentrated sulfuric acid, nitric acid, hydrochloric acid or even aqua regia, the weight and performance will not change. Above 300 ° C, it is almost insoluble in solvents, only slightly soluble in paraffins (about 0.1g / 100g).

Acid corrosion products: sulfuric acid, hydrochloric acid, nitric acid, hydrofluoric acid, acetic acid (content more than 80%).
Alkali corrosion products: sodium hydroxide, calcium sulfide, sodium sulfide, hydrazine hydrate (hydrazine content ≤ 64%), sodium alcohol, diethanolamine, dicyclohexylamine, etc.
Other corrosivity: methanol, chromium fluoride, dichloroacetaldehyde, chloroform (chloroform), sodium phenol, etc.
Therefore, when the material is made into hose products, some problems will inevitably be encountered: it is easy to make thick wall pipes, but the flexibility is reduced and the bending radius is large; the ripples in the deep valley can compensate for the rigidity caused by the wall thickness, but there may be dead angles to be cleaned. In order to achieve the effective combination of flexibility and durability, the wall thickness and corrugated shape of hose are the key topics studied by major manufacturers.
